Web Design FAQs

What's the process?
A: The process begins with Research. I will send you a series of questions via email, which allow me to delve deeper into your needs and goals for the website. After the questionnaire, we arrange a follow-up over the phone or in person, at your convenience, to confirm the direction for your site. At this time it is important that you collect all your content, in the form of text and images. The text will need to be proof read before sending it over as this is how it will apear on your website. Images should be in JPEG or PNG format, at least 1000px resolution.
The next phase is the Design & Development phase, where the look, feel, and flow of your site will be designed. I will send you a link to get some feedback and make adjustments accordingly before it gets to the technical stage of setting up the site. I’ll send you a link for feedback, and we’ll make the necessary adjustments before moving to the technical setup of the site.
After that, we conduct a Final Check & Testing, where I ensure the website functions properly on all major devices. Once you’re satisfied with everything, I perform bug checks and finalize the site. The final payment is due at this point.
Then, it’s time to Go Live! The website will be launched and submitted to Google for listing, which usually takes 1-2 weeks. During this time, you can start promoting your site. Finally, I provide training so you can update your site’s content and images, and even add new pages or blog posts. I’ll share tutorial videos that you can refer to whenever needed.

How long does it take to develop a website?
The timeline for developing a website will vary depending on the type of project and how complex it is. A simple website for informational purposes that would only require 5 or 6 pages takes around two to three weeks, depending on all content, text and images being ready to go. An e-commerce site would take anywhere from 3 to 8 weeks depending on the functionality and product listing detail.
How much does a website cost?
The cost of a website is determined by the amount of information you wish to include in the site the complexity of the site. This includes things like e-commerce, subscriptions, membership, email newsletters etc
Most custom designed basic small business websites will cost between $1500 – $2400. Which includes custom design, building, SSL certificate and domain name registration. The cost can vary anywhere up to $20,000 for a complex B2B site. E-commerce sites start at $2600.

Do I need a shopping cart?
As a rule of thumb, you will need a shopping cart or online store if you have over 10 products, or more than one category of products. I can advise you if you need a shopping-cart on your site, or if a simple product page and order form will work for you.
How will people find my website?
If you want people to find your website, you have to optimize it for search engines like Google. We provide SEO services to ensure your website shows under the relevant keywords and in search engine results and directory listings. Using digital marketing tools, including email newsletters, social media, and content marketing, I can also help you with the best ways to market your website, thereby enhancing exposure and increasing traffic.
What is web hosting?
Just like renting an office or shop for your business, you pay to host (or rent) space on the Internet where your website lives.

If you would want, you are welcome to visit, but it is not required. Generally speaking, a few phone calls and some emails are enough to begin the project. I am adaptable and ready to working with you.
Do you write the text/content for my site?
This will be a task for you, because nobody knows your business, your products and your clients the way you do, so preparing the body text is something that you will need to do. We do help with advice on writing web and Google-friendly copy. You will need to provide all the written content for the site, as well as images, such as logos and photos.
What are the ongoing costs?
The two ongoing costs of a website are: hosting and domain name registration.
- Domain Name Registration: This is an annual fee for securing your website’s domain name and its address.
- Website Hosting: Charge for leasing a portion of the server whereby your website will be accommodated and accessed online.
- Hosting packages with 99.9% uptime guarantees are available. Hosting and domain name registration can also be managed for your convenience.
You’re hosting my site, so you’ll update it right?
Not exactly, but we do offer maintenance services. Hosting simply ensures your website is live on the internet, but updates and content changes are not included in hosting. However, if you have a WordPress site, I offer maintenance plans to help with updates and content management.
How do I update my website
You have two options for updating your website:

What do I need to do?
All written content for your site, be it logos and photos, you will provide it. If you need any of these, content writer, designer, or photographer, I have professionals in all these fields whom I can give you references. A 50% deposit is required to start the work and the remaining 50% is due when your website is ready to go live.
